Yesterday’s Tube strike enabled us to carry out a rather interesting test. What happens to a business when everyone works from home for a day? I think the overwhelming response from the team has been that it had no negative impact at all. If anything, everyone really enjoyed it and got a lot more work done.
Perhaps it’s not that surprising, but it was interesting how incredibly quick and easy it was to arrange. A decision was made at 5pm the night before. Then it was simply, phones diverted – check, everyone got files for tomorrow’s work – check, remote access to server – check, and that was it.
Maybe it’s something we’ll look at doing on a more regular basis – but hopefully without it being forced on us next time.
